Ship Movement System
The ship movement system uses non contacting measurement methods and interfaces directly with HR DAQ acquisition and analysis software. This means that full spectral analysis and also correlation between any of the six degrees of freedom and wave heights or mooring forces can easily be carried out.
Our ship movement system includes:
- 6 lasers
- 1 local junction box
- 30m cable
- signal conditioning unit with analogue outputs and power supply
Key features
- Compact and easy to set up
- 0.18mm resolution
- Displays all six degrees of freedom
- Runs with HR DAQ for logging and analysis
- No contact with the ship
Specification:

Transducer Output and Power Supply Unit
This self-contained interface box feeds up to eight separate voltage inputs in the range of -10V to +10V to a host PC for data acquisition via a USB link.
It has 8 input sockets each able to supply 24V DC at approximately 100mA to any compatible sensor or transducer. Power is from an external desktop-style PSU and two panel-mounted LEDs provide power-on and USB activity indication. Power lead, USB lead and USB driver software are also supplied.
This unit can accommodate up to 8 compatible transducers.

Twin Wire Wave Probe – 1200 mm
Wave probes operate by measuring the current that flows between two stainless steel wires that are immersed in water. This current is converted to an output voltage that is directly proportional to the immersed depth.
Each wave probe comprises two parallel stainless steel rods with a plastic head and foot. The head is fixed to the calibration stem and a mounting block is supplied that allows the calibration stem to be fixed to any vertical surface.
Specification:
- Active length: 1200mm
- Probe type: resistive
- Other lengths available: 300mm, 600mm, 900mm

Water Level Float Gauge – 1200 mm
The water level float gauge uses a float which moves up and down a displacement transducer to measure slowly changing water levels, typically in flumes or 3D basins. The water level is determined by accurately measuring the distance from the head of the transducer to the magnetic field produced by a magnet mounted inside the float. The advantage of this method is that there is no contact, and therefore no friction, between the float and the transducer.
The transducer consists of a 10mm diameter stainless steel tube, which contains a stretched magnetostrictive wire. The tube is welded to a stainless steel head which contains all the electronics for the transducer.
Probe length
This product has a 300mm probe. 600, 900 and 1200mm probe lengths are available from this website. Other ranges are available on request.Digital display unit option
