Area Moment Method
The equipment is used for verification of the deflections and slopes of a beam by area-moment method. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied).
The beam has a moment support and one built-in / knife edge support. The supports allow longitudinal travel of the beam. The moment support has a rotating arm which is monitored by a dial indicator. The moment is applied and measured by load on the rotating arm. The beam deflection is measured by a dial indicator.
Instruction manual is also included.

Bending Moment
This equipment is used for measurement of bending moment on a section of a beam from which comparison with theoretical values can be made. It is to be used with ST305 Universal Base Frame or ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied).
The beam has two parts with a ball bearing hinge at the joint. An underhung spring balance holds the hinge in
compression, hence resists bending moment. The beam rests on two round supports. Load hangers and weights slide along the beam.Instruction manual is also included.
TYPICAL EXPERIMENTS- Visual demonstration of the Shear Force and Bending Moment at a cut section in a beam

Bending Moment in a Frame
This equipment allows measurement of strain hence bending moment along the length of the vertical and horizontal members of a rectangular portal frame. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied).
Strain gauges are fixed at equal distance along the frame members, 8 on the horizontal member and 4 on each vertical member. Both vertical legs of the frame can be clamped to ST300 Universal Structural Frame. Loads can be applied on the horizontal and/or vertical members and/or removable moment arm of the frame. Strains on the frame can be measured by the strain indicator. Bending moment at each strain gauge can be calculated from the strain and compared with the theoretical value.
Instruction manual is also included.
TYPICAL EXPERIMENTS- Relationship between measured strain and bending moment.
- Elastic bending of portal frames and linear relationship between the bending moments in the frame and the load.
- Bending moments for internal and external moments on vertical members
- Comparison of ideal and non-ideal structures

Column Buckling
The equipment is used for studying strut buckling under load. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied).
The top frame has a loading screw which pushes a cylindrical strut support sliding in a bushing. The bottom frame has a load cell and a cylindrical strut support in a socket.
Each strut has end conditions for knife-edge or built – in. The load reading is by an indicator. A small lateral load is applied by means of a pulley and a weight hanger. A dial indicator measures the lateral deflection.
Instruction manual is also included.

Continuous Beam
The equipment is used for measurement of the reactions of a two-span continuous beam with and without settlement of a support. It is to be used with ST300 Universal Structural Frame (separately supplied).
The equipment consists of a two-span continuous beam supported by two vertical force supports and a built-in/knife edge support. The settlement of each load measuring support is measured by a dial indicator and can be simulated by height compensation mechanism. Three movable load hangers with a set of weights for downward as well as upward loading are provided. Each beam deflection is measured by a dial indicator.
Instruction manual is also included.
