Gas CO2 Metering Process Pilot Plant (Model PP-102)
The Gas CO2 Metering Process Pilot Plant (Model PP-102) teaches the industrial implementation of analytical and flow instrumentation in the gas metering process.
The PP-102 Gas Metering Process Pilot Plant system covers the theoretical syllabus and offers practical hands-on exercises including but not limited to:
-
- Understanding the gas metering system industrial standard practices.
- Understanding the gas metering process design concept, including mass flow calculation and CO2 composition calculation.
- Understanding plant sizing and equipment sizing engineering, e.g. piping sizing, pressure drops along the pipe etc.
- Understanding the process plant general layout engineering and design, e.g. equipment arrangement.
- Understanding PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams).
- Understanding industrial piping systems and installation.
- Understanding gas analysis, including gas sampling handling etc.
The Gas CO2 Metering Process Pilot Plant(PP-102) is designed to provide hands-on practical industrial experience. It is custom designed according to learning syllabus objectives, starting from process plant basic design, understanding the instrumentation implementation of gas metering systems, instrumentation selection, instrument calibration, installation, testing and configuration.
The PP-102 is supplied with comprehensive custom written student experiments, a manual with detailed step-by-step procedures to guide students in developing the industrial hands-on practical skills. The PP-102 is supplied with an instructor experiment manual that includes theories, sample answers, and conclusions from the experiment outcomes.

Liquid & Gas Absorption Process Pilot Plant (Model PP-101)
The Liquid & Gas Absorption Process Pilot Plant (Model PP-101) is connected and fully monitored from an industrial Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), with a SCADA system mounted on a local control panel. The PP-101 is designed with an option to be connected to any industrial standard DCS control system via the “Selector” switch at the local panel.
It consists of the following minimum equipment and instrumentation:-
- Pre-fabricated scaled-down stainless steel platform, with pre-installed stainless steel piping, stainless steel water separation unit, air compressor, instruments and instruments support accessories, valves, etc.
- Industrial standard analytical sensors and transmitters. Transmitters come with tubing and support accessories in a modular basis for easy hook-up to the plant.
- Local control panel installed with electrical starter for motor, power supply (240VAC & 24VDC), switches, pushbuttons, indicators, SCADA system and other connections accessories.
- Raw materials for experiments.
- Industrial standard mass flow meter with pre-installed piping and tubing in a modular basis for easy hook-up to the plant. Gas analyzer with pre-installed piping and tubing in a modular basis for easy hook-up to the plant.
- Moisture production unit to inject moisture into the gas pip
- Two (2) moisture separator units to remove moisture from gas.
- CO2 removal unit to remove CO2 content in gas.
- Other calibration tools for sensor and transmitter calibration.

Pigging System (Model USPP-401)
Pig launchers and receivers are commonly used in the upstream Oil and Gas industry for periodic cleaning of pipelines carrying crude oil, natural gas and water from oil wells.
A pig is a bullet shaped object which fits inside the pipeline. The pig launcher launches the pig into the pipeline and the upstream pressure pushes the pig to other end of the pipeline where it is received by the pig receiver.
The arrangement for pig launchers and receivers are usually the same, except for a difference in the ‘kicker line’ position between launchers and receivers. The Pigging System is a scaled-down process pilot system, allowing trainees to explore the Operational and Maintenance (O&M) of oil production equipment.
The Pigging System demonstrates all the pigging operation and working principles. In order to demonstrate the pigging process in a way similar to the real process dynamic, a 4” piping schedule pipe is used. “Bandlock” enclosures are included in both the Pig Launcher and Pig Receiver. The entire pressurized vessel (Pig Launcher and Pig Receiver) is designed to follow the industrial ASME standard guidelines with “U” stamping. The pigging process skid offers all the standard safety features used in the Oil and Gas industry.
The Pigging System comes with three (3) different designs. Each of the designs applies a different length of the piping and contribute different pressure drops along the piping while utilizing a different floor space.
- Process Skid Platform
- Water Storage Tank
- Feed Water Pump
- Pig Launcher
- Pig Receiver
- Local Control Panel (LCP)
- Fault Simulation Module (FSM)
- Local Control System and SCADA System
