Batch Distillation Unit
This equipment demonstrates a process for separation of a mixture (one soluble in another) of two liquids of different boiling points.
The unit consists of boiler, two distillation columns, condenser, reflux tank, top product tank, vacuum pump, measuring instruments, and other accessories.
The liquid mixture is added to the boiler where the mixed vapor with higher concentration of the lower boiling point component rises in the distillation column. The vapor leaves the top and is condensed in the condenser and the reflux tank. Part of the condensate in the reflux tank is fed back to the top of the column where heat exchange is taken place with the rising vapor. This results in vapor phase being richer in lower boiling point component, and the liquid phase being richer in higher boiling point component. The liquid phase moves down to the boiler. Thus, the mixture in the boiler is richer in the higher boiling point component with time.
Two columns, sieve plate column and packed column with Rasching rings, can be interchanged simply by valve control. Lagging is provided for reboiler, sieve plate column, and condenser.
The unit is installed on a stainless steel frame.

This table top equipment demonstrates the relationship between pressure and temperature of saturated steam by temperature – pressure curve.
The equipment consists of an insulated boiler with an electric heater and inlet and outlet valves on stainless steel base with adjustable footings. Measuring and control instruments are provided.

Mini Steam Power Plant
This is a small low cost miniature power plant designed for educational purpose.
A hand feed pump supplies water from a feed tank to a small gas fired boiler. Steam is throttled to a single cylinder, double acting reciprocating engine. A small DC generator is connected to the engine by a belt and electrical load is applied. Exhaust from the steam engine is condensed in a water cooled condenser. Condensate is collected and measured for steam rate.
Instruments are provided for monitoring and controlling the plant operation and performance as well as for safety.
Instruction manual is also included.

Mini Steam Turbine Power Plant
Mini Steam Turbine Power Plant is designed as a miniature modern day power plant for educational purpose.
A pump supplies water from a feed tank to a small gas fired boiler. The saturated steam can be superheated by an electric superheater (optional). The steam is throttled to single stage turbine. Exhaust from the turbine is condensed in a water cooled condenser. Condensate is collected in a graduated beaker and returned to feed water tank by a pump. A small DC generator is connected to the turbine by a belt, and electrical load is applied. A mechanical dynamometer is provided for measurement of turbine mechanical output. The unit requires outside water supply.
Instruments are provided for monitoring and controlling of plant operation and performance as well as for safety. The unit is on a steel frame with adjustable footings.
